From Voice to Action: Building an AI Assistant with Python and Google Workspace

Jumping between Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and Jira tabs for repetitive tasks is exhausting. That's why we built Attento, an assistant that lets you execute real actions in Google Workspace using natural language. In this talk we build Attento, an end-to-end voice assistant that turns natural language into real actions across Google Workspace. We'll cover architecture with FastAPI, OAuth 2.0 authentication with PKCE, function calling with Gemini, streaming with NDJSON, best practices with uv and Pydantic Settings, and the path from demo to production with Postgres and automated morning briefings.

He grew up learning English from software installation menus and YouTube tutorials before they existed in Spanish. That early curiosity about technology took him from Industrial Engineering and financial analysis at Javeriana to building data pipelines for companies in three countries. Juan Manuel is a Senior Data Engineer with experience in GCP, Python, and automation, and has worked from B2B trade platforms with Asia to BI projects at Cisco. At Attento he handled what he likes most: keeping data flowing cleanly, making infrastructure invisible, and making the system remember what you did yesterday.

Data Scientist @ Cuesta Partners

Industrial Engineer turned Data Scientist out of love for numbers and technology. Juliana went from modeling probabilities at Javeriana to fraud detection models at MercadoLibre and MercadoPago, and today builds AI solutions at Cuesta Partners, a Tech and AI consultancy. Attento is her latest experiment: proving that Python can connect a human voice with ten corporate APIs without losing your mind along the way. Off the keyboard, she just graduated as a Chef, where she applies the same technical rigor as in her professional life.
